In 2007, Heritage Tasmania and the Tasmanian Heritage Council relocated their operations to 103 Macquarie Street.
Heritage Tasmania and the Heritage Council recognise the importance of this building. Since 1866, this place has been a landmark on Macquarie Street for the people of Hobart. The directors of the bank chose well in local architect Francis Butler, whose skills in design have created a refined and beautiful building, the flagship for one of Tasmania's most important and successful early financial institutions: the Commercial Bank.
We are proud of our new home, and glad to share its heritage and stories.
