Lesson Ideas

The following topics, activities and ideas have been designed to encourage investigation of historic heritage using resources within the local community. Activities focus on the personal self, the school as a community, and the wider local community.

'Heritage' is typically divided into natural heritage and cultural heritage (historic heritage and Aboriginal heritage).

While these lesson ideas focus specifically on historic heritage, the acknowledgement of Aboriginal ownership may be included in class activities.

The activities require imagination, curiosity, investigation skills and abstract thinking.

Each topic can be investigated as broadly or specifically as to the relevance of your town. Teachers are encouraged to build on the ideas to reflect the grade and ability of their students.
