Conservation Funding Program

Conservation Funding Program

The Heritage Council provides grants for places permanently listed on the Heritage Register. Grant rounds are held once or twice a year and advertised in daily newspapers and on this website. You must complete an application form to seek grant funds. It is recommended that you check eligibility before lodging an application form.

The next funding round is scheduled for February 2010. To request a copy of an application form to be forwarded to you at that time, click here.

The program guidelines (PDF 134Kb) provide more information about the program.

Assessment process

Providing all the information requested on the form will assist the assessment process.

Heritage Tasmania assesses each application on its merits. Applications are ineligible if the place is not on the Heritage Register, the works are ineligible or the application does not contain enough detail to allow assessment.

The assessment process usually involves a review of the application and a field visit. The application will then be ranked against others based on urgency of work and other priorities within the grant round.

Outcome and grant

The Heritage Council considers the recommendations made by Heritage Tasmania, determines the number of grants and the amount to be offered. All applications are informed of the outcome in writing.

Those offered a grant receive a package that includes a formal Grant Deed. Grants are then paid to the owner once the works have been completed.
